Peace

Our theme for this half term is Peace. To the right are documents that outlines the theological importance of this value, as well as providing some bible references and questions we hope are useful.
During this half term, we hope to move pupils' understanding beyond the idea that peace is simply the absence of war or violence.
Ideas for Discussion
- As we move towards Christmas and the giving of gifts, think about the gift of peace that Jesus has given us. Angels also brought the message of “peace on earth.”
- Armistice Day (11th November) & Remembrance Day (13th November) – a reminder of the consequences of not living in a peaceful world.
- The Story of the Paralysed Man reminds of the importance of forgiveness. We cannot have inner peace if we hold grudges and don’t forgive others.
- How does the idea of peace link with British values, in particular “mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.”
- Symbols of peace: the olive branch. During the great flood, the dove sent in search of land by Noah, returned with an olive.

Our topic this half term is 'Celebrating Differences'. Different opinions, ideas or wishes are often the root of disagreements. For us to live in peace and harmony we must, to some extent, accept and celebrate our differences as human beings. Links here can also be made to British values
