About Osprey (Year 5)

Welcome to Osprey class!

Our learning for the year can be view on the curriculum overviews page. For a break down of what we will be learning each week you'd might like to view the blocked units of work too.

We have an interesting and exciting half term ahead! We will be learning about Earth and Space. How does day and night happen? Is it really because the sun is hiding behind the clouds? Is the Earth flat? How do we know it's a sphere? What are the order of the planets of the solar system? All this and more will be explored - we will go where no one has gone before!

In our Geography topic we will be comparing Leeds with Athens (Greece) - looking at human and physical geography, exploring web-sites, looking at graphs and charts to find information.

Computing will involve looking at internet safety: we will look at online protection, communication, reputation, bullying and health! In PE the children will be learning to play Tag Rugby! The skills of throwing, catching and scoring amazing tries will be taught. Mr Harkins will be taking the PE sessions for both classes.

In RE - we are exploring the big question - "What would Jesus do?" We will be reading Bible extracts, finding clues, discussing ideas and presenting creative learning!
