As part of our work with the Woodland Trust School Award we took part in a Tree Dressing Day.
Tree dressing is celebrated in different cultures all over the world and is a great way to take a moment and express our gratitude to trees. We are very fortunate that we have such a variety of trees on our school ground.
Lots of children throughout school took part in our Tree Dressing Days held within the school grounds. Children in Year 4 used old gardening magazines to make paper chains, stringing them up together.
Children in Year 6 decorated old cds, wrapped ribbon and strips of material around the trees.
Year 5 and Year 1 left messages of gratitude on the trees, thanking them for all they give and do. Year 3 added strips of materials and threaded Christmas themed bunting around our saplings.
All to take a moment to recognise and appreciate the huge benefits we receive from trees. The child displayed a fantastic attitude and enthusiasm towards this event and we are really proud of them for getting involved.
Key Stage 2 children also had an assembly from the Woodland Trust entitled 'The Man Who Planted Trees'.
We have received a further 2 points from the Woodland Trust for our school award, taking us one step closer to Silver.
