Over the past two weeks, pupils from year 5 and 6 have taken part in a football tournament between the local schools in Pudsey. After making our way past the first round, 30 schools were cut down to the remaining five.

This meant after gaining 6 points from 4 games in the first round (one win and 3 draws), we moved onto the final round with the hope of winning the tournament and representing our local area in further tournaments.

The quality in the finals was certainly different from what we had played the week before, and we were put under enormous pressure in defense. Both our goalies, Kacper and Patrick, made some unbelievable saves and were very busy on a cold, wet night. Unfortunately, we were not clinical enough in attack and we lost our three games 1-nil.

Going out into our final match of the tournament, the boys could have easily let their heads drop but they upped their intensity, started to get the ball down and played some beautiful passing football. This fantastic change in attitude was rewarded with a 2-0 victory, both scored by Alex Aldred, but created by superb vision and work rate from the rest of the team.

I would just like to say thank-you to all the boys who participated, and also the parents who braved the terrible conditions to help with lifts and offer their support.
