For the first few weeks of the new half term the children have been learning about a number of different celebrations. A family in Reception celebrate Diwali and we learnt about how it is celebrated. We also learnt about Bonfire night and how to stay safe during the celebrations. We even have a fire station role play area! Reception have also been learning about Remembrance Day, how we can show respect to remember and we created a special wreath for our local Calverlery cenotaph.

In our first week after half term we took part in a whole school weeks work about The Rugby League World Cup that is taking place. We wrote about what makes good team work, learnt about how to play rugby and Miss Price shared some special family items from her brother and father who were rugby players themselves.

We have continued to talk about the changes to the seasons taking place such as it being darker and animals needing to find food and keep warm. This led to us visiting Lotherton Hall and talking part in a nocturnal animals workshop to launch the start of our working learning more about night time animals. We will also be using using the fiction text Owl Babies to support our learning over the coming week.
