This half term we have had lots of ladybirds in and outside the classroom. This sparked a fascination with ladybirds and we learnt all about a ladybird life cycle and enjoyed building up our bug hotel in the garden.

In the garden we have been getting dressed in our wetsuits to dig in the mud pit and play outside in all weathers, rain or sunshine!

We have been learning about the celebrations of Bonfire Night and Diwali and how they are celebrated. We created our own artwork inspired by this and made some edible sparklers!Yummy!

We have been taking part in Road Safety Week to and using our new equipment (donated by the Friends of Calverley) to role play how to cross roads safely.

We have been learning about The First Christmas and preparing for our upcoming nativity show. We have been writing letters to Santa and are having a fun time discovering what our class elves have been up to each morning.

Miss Price has created a wonderful grotto and we are excited for our half termly family stay and play session.

In the classroom we are becoming confident readers and independent writes using our set 1 phonic knowledge. We had a big interest in writing birthday invitations to our friends as we love to talk about the plans for our 5th birthday! We have been reading Kipper's Birthday and solving problems to 5 using it in maths. We have met all the Numberblocks to 5 and are working hard on our key instant recall facts to 5; including knowing 1 more and 1 less and the number bonds for each number.

It has been a busy term and we are looking forward to all the fun, crafts and sparkle that the Christmas season brings in Reception!
