Maths

We will complete our unit on multiplication and division by revising factors and applying the skills we have learnt to reasoning and word problems. The second unit this half term will focus on fractions: recapping equivalence with decimals, as well as carrying out additions and subtraction with fractions. We will end this half term by learning about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

English

In the first week of this half term, we will complete our reading of ‘Tamarind and the Star of Ishta’, as well as celebrating World Book Day. After this, we will move on to a non-fiction title called 'How Does a Lighthouse Work?' by Roman Belyaev and then a piece of historical fiction called 'Letters from the Lighthouse' by Emma Carroll.

Religious Education

We will be exploring a Christian unit this half term relating the festival of Easter. Our big question is Why do Christians call the day Jesus died ‘Good Friday’? We will focus on events of The Last Super, consider Judas’s betrayal and consider the impact of these events on the lives of Christians.

Topic

In Geography, the class will be looking at physical and human features of Yorkshire to help carry out comparison with an area in Germany. Later in the half term, we will also be learning about the water cycle. We also have two computing units this half term: website creation, in which we will explore Microsoft Sway, and collaborative learning, where we will look at additional features and functions of online Microsoft software. Our PE unit is a gymnastic unit on the theme of bridges.
